A Snapshot of Your Day

Join our team as an Electrical Design Engineer, where you'll be instrumental in shaping the physical and functional essence of industrial electrical systems. Your typical day includes crafting intricate electrical room layout drawings, generating single line diagrams for power distribution, and engineering all aspects of cable systems from sizing to routing. You'll design grounding, lighting layouts, and control schematics, as well as prepare comprehensive Bills of Materials. With your expertise, you'll also conduct plant surveys, contribute to 3D modeling of plant layouts, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that all designs meet stringent industry codes and standards. Your role is pivotal in creating detailed construction specifications and packages that drive our projects from conception to completion.

How You’ll Make an Impact

The specific responsibilities assigned to the position (but not limited to) are:

  • Design electrical room layouts, including MV and LV Switchgear, Transformers, Motor Control Centers, Variable Speed Drives, and various control cabinets.
  • Generate single line diagrams for power distribution and perform cable engineering, including sizing, raceway design, and routing.
  • Design grounding and lighting layouts, and prepare breaker panel schedules, control schematics, interconnection, and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform heat load calculations, prepare Bills of Materials, and generate construction specifications and packages.
  • Conduct existing plant walkdowns and surveys, and review and comment on vendor drawings.
  • Utilize CAD for electrical layouts and 3-D modeling, and coordinate with other discipline designers and engineers.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronic systems engineering technology, or related field/job experience.
  • 5+ years' experience with electrical design with design, drafting and engineering for heavy industrial plants. Experience designing medium and low voltage power distribution equipment required. Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical codes, such as NEC, IEC, NEMA, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL and CE certifications. OSHA and MSHA regulation knowledge required. Specifying electrical equipment preferred.
  • Experience interacting with customers and vendors and resolving comments and changes on documents and drawings.
  • Strong organization and excellent time management skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Willing to travel domestic and international (approximately 10-20%)
  • Tested competency with the following modeling / PDMS or relevant software preferred: AutoCAD 2D/3D, AutoCAD Electrical, REVIT, Comos, Any other 3D Model (e.g.: E3D, MicroStation, Bentley, NX), cable routing.
