A Snapshot of Your Day

As a member of the Customs Global Classification team, you will be responsible for accurately classifying a broad range of products in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule on behalf of Siemens Energy. Within this responsibility you capture data/documentation and determine the correct customs classification (tariff) according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) applicable in Taiwan (TW) and other APAC countries.

This position reports to the Global Classification Team and works in close collaboration with the Customs Team located in APAC & China as part of a multinational team.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Drive efficient and robust HS classification and description procedures.

Manage day-to-day HS classification activities.

Directly supervise, mentor, develop, and assist the SE APAC&CN&ME&AF global classification team members in the day-to-day HS classification activities.

Analyze and aggregate the causes of HS classification issues and delays in driving improvement actions with our partners and staff. 

Implement HS classification compliance supervising through metrics.

Work with customs internal and external customers on all matters pertaining to HS classification activities. Drive continuous improvement to standardize processes and develop procedures.

Support the development and implementation of SOPs and trainings for APAC&CN&ME&AF global classification team. Support with cross-functional projects related to HS transactions.

Develop strong partnerships with SE business areas, communicating with functions across the organization regarding all transactional HS classification activities. Drive financial optimization through compliant use of tariff engineering. Support the heads of customs for APAC & China and Middle East & Africa Region on HS classification regulatory matters.

Analyze product specifications and technical documentation to accurately assign HS codes, applying the General Rules of Interpretation, Section/Chapter Notes, and Binding Tariff Information (BTI), along with local rulings as applicable.

Review the classification and classify goods according to APAC&CN&ME&AF specific countries customs regulations and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, considering technical attributes

Identify required information for customs classification and gather it from systems or relevant departments (e.g., Engineering, R&D)

Ensure compliance with Customs laws, regulations, and trade requirements

Support on defining, implementing, and monitoring the global customs classification process and contribute to customs global classification optimization of processes and systems in APAC & China and Middle East & Africa Regions 

Support on defining and implementing, together with other departments, the target IT landscape and process model for customs classification for the APAC & China and Middle East & Africa Regions

Ensure high-quality customs classification and compliant, efficient execution

Maintain data consistency across defined product categories and systems

Participate in internal meetings and community calls to support business needs and promote awareness of customs global classification

Assist with data migration and related project activities

Update systems (SAP and others) and generate reports

Archive and maintain customs classification (tariff) changes trackers

What You Bring

8+ years of extensive experience in HS classification, customs /international trade compliance. 

Bachelor's Degree—preferably in International Business or related field, Tax, or Finance.

Customs broker license is preferred.

Excellent problem solving and project skills including analytics, implementation strategies, metric measurement and continuous monitoring expectations and deliverables. 

People Management and leadership experience.

Ability to classify products under nomenclature chapters 84 and 85, including handling rulings

Understanding of the Energy Technology and the Wind Industry, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately

Detail-oriented, structured, and resourceful team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience in process improvement and optimization. Hands-on experience in streamlining and digitization of manual processes.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse cultures, backgrounds, and organizational levels

Ability to collaborate with all levels within the organization to develop and deploy effective solutions and broader strategies. 

Global Trade Management technology/ERP experience such as: SAP, TR-One Source, MIC or other global trade management software. 

Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Excellent command of Mandarin and English, both spoken and written

Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time, if required

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Skilled in negotiation, presentation, and assertiveness
