A Snapshot of Your Day
Imagine leading the charge in developing China’s sourcing strategy for forging commodities, driving impactful procurement decisions, and shaping supplier relationships that contribute to the success of Siemens Energy’s global operations. As the Commodity Strategy Leader, you’ll work alongside a virtual team of experts from Engineering, Supplier Quality Management, and procurement professionals across business units and plants. Your day will involve strategic planning, supplier management, market analysis, and negotiations that ensure cost-efficient, high-quality, and reliable materials supply—all while leaving your mark on a rapidly evolving industry.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Develop China’s sourcing strategy for Forging commodity and work closely aligned with the Commodity Managers of the different business areas and with the Corporate Commodity Manager of Forgings, to make sure that the strategies are harmonized and support the business targets. 
  • Lead virtual teams, including engineering, supplier quality management, and commodity buyers, to drive commodity development initiatives.
  • Implement commodity strategies to secure cost-efficient, high-quality materials and foster strong supplier relationships.
  • Monitor global market trends to optimize sourcing strategies and partner with top-tier suppliers.
  • Define and implement procurement strategies for business needs outside of commodity strategies, ensuring reliable and timely material supply.
  • Conduct commercial and contract negotiations for medium to high purchasing volumes, achieving significant savings and measurable business impact.
  • Document and implement savings while planning, monitoring, and reporting on relevant KPIs for transparency and success.
  • Support supplier management processes, including qualification, evaluation, development, and classification, to identify and cultivate the best suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with internal customers to ensure strong relationships and early involvement in procurement processes.
What You Bring
  • Academic degree in an engineering-related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the power generation, oil & gas, aero engine, or other heavy industries—preferably with a strong understanding of materials and large open-die forging/ring forging processes.
  • Global sourcing experience within a multinational company is preferred.
  • Fluent communication skills in English and Chinese.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative, motivation, and a quick learning ability.
  • Ownership mindset, with a results-oriented approach to challenges.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to navigate complex scenarios effectively.

Our Gas Services division offers low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. We provide zero or low emission power generation and encompass all gas turbines, steam turbines, generators and compressors under one roof. Our team is dedicated to decarbonization through modernization and digitalization of the fleet.
