A Snapshot of Your Day

The Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) function is the driver of cost transparency and optimization for externally purchased material, components, and systems in the Siemens Energy product portfolio.

As Procurement Engineer for the Industrial Steam Turbine Business in Brno, you will drive a diverse field of projects and initiatives. While your primary focus is the product portfolio in Brno, you are part of a global team and strive to look for best solutions with a global, cross-location mindset, with various interfaces to other steam turbine locations, such as Goerlitz (Germany), Vadodara (India) or Jiundiai (Brazil). This ranges from the generation of cost optimization ideas within interdisciplinary teams, to leveraging the innovation power of our external suppliers, and enabling the transfer of measures on products and solutions sold to external customers.

Besides the optimization of existing products, you will also represent SE Procurement in the development of new products and exploration of new business fields. As an active core team member in selected key R&D projects, you will work closely with R&D Project Managers towards the achievement of project targets such as target cost through systematic involvement of strategic suppliers and design-to-cost in the development process.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • You will act as key interface for CVE and Procurement for Industrial Steam Turbines (main focus: turbine auxiliaries)
  • Developing and implementing effective cost out measures with specific focus on design-to-cost, in close alignment with cross-functions (e.g. R&D, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Proposal)
  • Furthermore you actively collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Bid Management and Project Procurement during the bidding process of new and/or optimized product offerings
  • Represent Procurement in selected key R&D programs to develop most competitive products based on given market requirements
  • Act as technical partner for Procurement to develop & implement effective sourcing strategies across material fields (commodities)
  • Leverage know-how and innovation power of our suppliers and conduct technology scouting together with Procurement and R&D, to make SE products most competitive
  • Support market introduction of new products through early involvement of Procurement and strategic partnering with suppliers in new app and service business
  • Include an extended network of experts in other procurement functions in the projects you work on (e.g. Cost Engineers, Commodity Managers, Supplier Quality Managers)

What You Bring

  • Combined technical / commercial or technical degree (min. bachelor degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Energy business, engineering, R&D, Project Management and/or Supply Chain is required
  • Excellent project management, interpersonal and communication skills, also in interaction with internal customers and senior management
  • Relevant technical product knowledge in Industrial Steam Turbines is required
  • You are curious, learn fast, pro-active and driven by results, while having strong prioritization skills and focusing on what matters most
  • Location close to main business activities in Brno would be beneficial
