Manager - Manufacturing Production Planning & Control
A Snapshot of Your Day!
Manufacturing Production Planning & Control work focuses on managing production to optimize the use of resources and meet production schedules and standards including: •Planning and controlling production schedules and coordinating with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials •Estimating and scheduling the human resources, tools, and equipment needed for the production process •Researching, evaluating, and recommending changes to production processes, systems, technology, or equipment to enhance organization's production capabilities Specialization Match Note: Para-Professional incumbents measure and record material and production costs and prepare production/resource scheduling, production work plans, formulas and other guides.
How will you make an Impact!
1. Production Planning
• Review forecast, customer orders, backlog, BOMs, routings, and project schedules to create executable plans.
• Convert sales / project inputs into production schedules, aligned with ERP (SAP PP/DS) planning structures.
• Coordinate with Engineering to ensure readiness of drawings and specifications before release.
• Release and manage production orders, enasuring BoMs and master data accuracy.
• Plan raw material requirements and coordinate with procurement
• Prepare load charts, evaluate machine/work-center capacity and resource constraints.
2. Production Control.
• Manage machine shop & assembly shop production control activities
• Provide shops with clear execution schedules and priorities.
• Track Work-In-Progress (WIP), delays, rework, bottlenecks, and coordinate recovery plans.
• Validate completion and closure of production orders.
• Manage priority changes based on customer delivery needs & internal review outcomes.
• Communicate make–buy decisions, expedite parts, and ensure alignment across departments.
• Conduct internal reviews with Engineering, SCM, Projects, QA, Warehouse, Shop teams
• Align on release plans, material readiness, inspection stages, and delivery milestones
3. Master Data, Inventory & Documentation
• Manage SAP PP, MM modules, PP/DS structures like PDS (Production Data Structure).
• Generate, debug, and maintain planning-related master data—routings, BoMs, work centers, resources, authorizations.
• Create/update ISO documentation, production reports, capacity charts. Conduct safety stock reviews, manage OSMI (obsolete / slow-moving inventory) utilization
• Optimize material flow from stores → machining → assembly → dispatch.
• Ensure continuous flow of goods to meet production targets.
4. Performance Management & Reporting
• Track KPIs such as: Production adherence, Delivery timelines, Inventory metrics, WIP and capacity utilization, Process efficiency & bottlenecks
• Provide management with daily/weekly dashboards, delay reports, and resource load analysis.
What you Bring!
• Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Mechanical or Industrial & Production Engg.
• Minimum 8~10 years of relevant experience. (Diploma candidate should have additional 2~3 years of relevant experience)
• Should be able to visualize health of the projects with available resources
• Hands on experience of Production planning & Control with functions like fabrication, machining and Assembly
• Should possess knowledge of MS-Office, SAP / PP & MM module and understand overall all project flow starting from Engineering to Execution
• Knowledge of MS-Project / Primavera will be an added advantage
• Work Experience in any of these product manufacturing industries , Centrifugal compressor, Reciprocating compressor, Steam turbine, Gas turbine
