How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Oversee and drive engineering control and processes for control software systems of Utility Battery Energy Storage Systems
  • Implement and modify instrumentation and control logics
  • Perform system wide functionality tests and troubleshooting
  • Identify and outline customer requirements regarding instrumentation and controls
  • Design and create high-level and detailed system design drawings and layouts for controls
  • Specify appropriate system components and create detailed bills-of-material for material and labor cost estimates
  • Determine the most effective solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Support projects from the design phase through project start-up phase
  • Support our technical sales team at prospective customers and clients.
  • Handle customer expectations and coordinate project specific concepts with internal and external engineering partners
  • Elaborate and sharpen the "lessons learned" to strengthen our experience in Product development

 

What You Bring 

  • Bachelor's degree- electrical engineering or software engineering or similar 
  • Expert Experience in instrumentation, automation, control, and digital systems for BESS systems
  • Minimum 5 years experience, those with more experience will be considered for more senior roles
  • Experience with PLC ladder logic or similar is an advantage
  • A focused and process oriented approach with the ability to think outside the box
  • Significant practical work experience more than 36 months including knowledge from internships, working student activities or employment
  • Completed university degree with scientific background (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.) or corresponding professional experience.
  • Long-term experience in battery technology for storage application (battery, LV-inverter, transformer, or controls), battery systems, modules and subcomponents or power conversion systems (PCS) or controls (EMS, VPP, PCS – level) with focus on instrumentation and controls.
  • In-depth technical understanding - especially in the field of battery storage technologies or renewable energies as an advantage
  • Independent work, combined with medium travel activity.
  • Fluent in English (mandatory); German skills are a plus
  • Strong communication and proactiveness
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
