The Commercial Project Manager (CPM) is responsible to manage and coordinate all contractual, administrative, legal, tax, accounting and financial aspects of projects in execution, in order to control risks and improve the budget and planning, in cooperation with the project manager, with whom he/she shares co-responsibility for the project(s) in his/her portfolio.

The CPM will work closely with various people and departments, including Sales, Finance, PM’s and factories. 

How you'll make a difference

  • Coordinate with the project managers to ensure successful execution of projects within budget and time constraints, including indexation.  Maintain project calculations, reporting and FCF Forecast, and ensure the financial success of projects.   
  • Analyze the conditions of the customer contract and participate in the negotiation of the contractual aspect of the amendments.
  • Verify and validate the relevance of the costing and contractual arrangements of the offers.
  • Produce and update economic forecasts and ensure compliance with objectives and forecasts in terms of turnover, gross margin, cash flow, but also on the legal and tax environment of the projects in the portfolio.
  • Control the risks and opportunities of your business and ensure your correct accounting method; Analyze the variances between budgeted and actual costs on your business.
  • Set up and monitor financial statements (sureties, means of payment, debt collection, provisions).
  • Create and manage work break down structure (WBS);
  • Manage new orders, sales and planned costs, carry out invoicing, check payments;
  • Organize logistics in cooperation with the order manager and manage Financial Guarantees and import duties (if any) as per project conditions.
  • Ensure the application of internal/group procedures (quality, business implementation plan) throughout the execution of projects. Clarify Audit requests
  • If necessary, ensure the roles, responsibilities and prerogatives of the World Project Controller (WPC), including the control, steering and coordination of financial reporting and its consolidation, ensuring the consolidated profit of the project, and supervising the local CPMs.
  • Support the sales team in the bid process, e.g. credit checks, including preparing commercial offers, and conducting risk assessments.  

What you bring:

  • Studies: University or College degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Commercial Engineer or legal studies with commercial interest. Or similar out of experience.
  • 2-3 year of proven business experience
  • General financial knowledge (budget control, accounting principles, cash management) and specific financial knowledge (export techniques, sales financing, taxation, business law and contract management).
  • Experience as a Commercial Sales Manager, Commercial Project Manager. Preferably in the high-voltage equipment or energy sector.
  • Knowledge in financial project management software and tools, like SAP & MS Office.    
  • Proficient in English and French spoken and written; Good knowledge of Dutch is a Plus.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Team worker!!!
  • Negotiation, risk management, and problem-solving skills.
