As a Proposal Engineer, you will collaborate with the regional sales team to understand the competitive landscape, customer requirements and market conditions and prepare bids accordingly. You will continuously work to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What part will you play?

  • Work seamlessly with the factory sales/ offer team to prepare technically compliant competitive bids for the HV products portfolio including Air & Gas Insulated Switchgear and Surge Arrestors.
  • Work collaboratively with the regional sales team to understand the competitive landscape, customer requirements and market conditions and prepare bids accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with customers’ representatives and internal partners at all levels whilst remaining passionate about customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Siemens factories / external suppliers / subcontractors / consortium partners as and when required.
  • Work closely with our legal and commercial colleagues to ensure contractual risks are fully evaluated and mitigated at the proposals' stage.
  • Take an innovative and forward-thinking approach to handling work via proactive use of technology including CRM tools like Salesforce.

What you need to make real what matters.

  • Educated to HNC standard or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience within the energy sector and familiarity with transmission systems and associated product applications.
  • A skilled capability in understanding customer needs and priorities and how they fit into a sophisticated organisation like ours.
  • Experience in multi partner environments that can include factories, headquarter and local teams and the ability to align them and build strong internal relationships across departments and locations
  • Ability to take responsibility and ownership of bids: work efficiently and independently with support from management when needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & positive “can do” attitude
  • Flexibility when deadlines require and willingness to really commit
  • Driven “will to win” and readiness to introduce innovative ideas
  • The ability to understand the customer's situation and demonstrate our technical and commercial strengths to address that.
  • Basic understanding of business profit & loss, Budgetary Planning, Approval processes and use of appropriate tools for such activities.
