A Snapshot of Your Day

A typical day in this role combines technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and a strong focus on safety in power generation and distribution plants. You coordinate functional safety and technical plant safety activities across projects, working closely with engineers, project teams, and stakeholders to develop and align technical safety concepts.

Throughout the day, you lead and moderate hazard analyses and risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, and SIL studies, helping to identify potential risks and define appropriate mitigation measures. You translate these findings into clear safety requirements and support teams during the implementation and validation process to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and guidelines, including IEC 61508/61511 and related frameworks.

Another key part of the role is verifying implemented safety functions and preparing the necessary documentation and evidence for compliance and project delivery. The position requires a structured and analytical way of working, strong communication and moderation skills, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in engineering and plant operations.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Determination and specification of safety requirements
  • Advisory support for the implementation and validation of safety requirements
  • Verification of implemented safety functions and preparation of evidence documentation
What You Bring
  • Degree in engineering with a background in electrical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable qualification
  • Ideally, professional experience in the planning of process plants, power generation and distribution plants, or in the field of functional safety / technical plant safety
  • Ideally, knowledge of common safety standards and guidelines, such as IEC 61508/61511, VDI/VDE 2180, IEC 62061, ISO 12100, and IEC 61882
  • Excellent moderation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong team-oriented mindset and collaborative way of working
  • Analytical mindset combined with an independent, reliable, and structured working style
