This role sits under the Data Excellence and Governance capability pillar of “Ability of the data to be fit for purpose” and is responsible for ensuring Metadata Management is well implemented through the Data Catalog. You know both the importance and fundamentals of Metadata Management, and how they contribute to solving business problems.  You will closely support the Metadata Manager and Data Architects in their work to enable business teams to “fix their data foundations”

How You’ll Make an Impact / Responsibilities

        Develop and implement an enterprise-wide metadata management solution (data catalog).

        Support the Metadata Manager with the assessment, improvement and governance of metadata and ongoing fit-for-purpose of SE’s critical data assets

        You will drive implementations in the Data Catalog and environment, based on a data-oriented framework and data strategy, and work with stakeholders globally to analyse, understand and implement data management requirements.

        Leverage the metadata management framework to prioritize issues, agree on definitions and raise the any issues.

        You actively shape the further development of the services, processes and platform of the Enterprise Data Catalog in close coordination with the topic owner

        Establish target goals for metadata coverage identify optimal approaches for resolving any obstacles.

        Deliver on Metadata initiatives as defined, agreed and prioritized

        Document and present methodologies, procedures, and project results to senior stakeholders across different functions

        Be aware of & understand emerging technologies and latest trends in the field of data cataloging

What You Bring / Skills, Capabilities

        Technical skills in all areas of Metadata Management or Data Catalog Implementation

        Profound experience with data cataloging tools

        Min. 3 years recent experience in engineering solutions that enable Metadata Management.

        Knowledge of the elements of the ED&AA data governance capabilities and operating model, and how they will come together in the business to deliver value. In particular, data cataloging, data asset management (metadata etc), enterprise data modelling, data compliance

        Understanding of the Siemens Energy corporate strategy and the key business problems/opportunities of the organisation - either globally or in critical process areas

        Good admin and organizing skills for the creation of a well-run community

        Ability to work well in diverse teams and actively contribute to an inclusive team culture Flexibility and growth mindset, to change and grow as the team matures

        You are passionate about data and analytics, and driving data value across all parts of an organization and ecosystems

        You are fluent in both spoken and written English, knowledge of German or any other language is a plus.
