A Snapshot of Your Day

As a qualified Mechanical Technician within Field Service you will work on customer sites and have a good understanding of Power Stations and Rotating Plant.  Undertaking a range of maintenance activities within the UK, and Ireland, and also working overseas when the opportunity arises.  Working in large and small teams you will be motivated, self-conscious and respectful of people within your teams. You will be safety conscious with a right first time attitude.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Act as a Mechanical Technician for Field Service work undertaken at nominated customer sites.
  • To apply all the trade-specific skills for a Mechanical Technician and any of the basic and general skills required in order to effectively undertake duties in a safe and competent manner.
  • Follows high level instruction from the Supervisor and Site Manager.
  • Be responsible for own work, within the set guidelines.  Expected to highlight issues, defects to the appropriate level.
  • Assists in the execution of the day to day work.
  • Review, advise and resolve all potential and actual site issues related to the scope of work.
  • To complete inspection record sheets, as requested by your supervisor, and to sign as complete and accurate.
  • Able to work within safety guidelines and familiar with risk assessments, method statements and safe working practices.
  • Exhibit motivation and commitment to site programmes.
  • To be aware of site processes and procedures.
  • To undergo training, if required, in any of those basic, general and trade specific skills areas where development is identified.
  • To support the training of employees in lower grades when required and where necessary to undergo training for such duties.
  • Exceptional attendance record with flexible working attitude.
  • Exceptional Time Management on site.
  • Support company and group initiatives (e.g. Zero Harm, Talk to Me and Right First Time). 
  • Frequent travel is required in country and overseas. 

What You Bring  

  • A time served electrical/mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Mechanical fitting experience preferably on Power Stations and Site Works Communication skills essential.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator technology would be preferable
  • Good understanding and knowledge of turbine auxiliary systems.
  • An electrical understanding would be an advantage.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively (internally and with external partners) and individually to achieve results.
  • Flexible to meet the changing needs of site work.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good computer literacy skills an advantage
