A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Mechanical Integrity Engineer at Siemens Energy, your day will be filled with varying technical challenges supporting the design and delivery of high performance turbo-compressors. You'll evaluate the structural integrity and mechanical behavior of compressor or package components under various loads, figuring out the best analytical approaches while exchanging insights within multifunctional project teams, and providing recommendations for component design where relevant. You'll have the opportunity to improve analytical methods and tools to support customers or lead projects.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Work on structural integrity topics in static and dynamic analysis of highly loaded compressor components for both traditional and green energy industries.
- Support new unit and service projects by evaluating the structural suitability of components and assemblies, ensuring they meet industry specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Apply finite element methods to simulate stress and displacement on structures from static or transient loads. Perform modal analysis to identify structural frequencies via harmonic response analysis.
- Support field issues, participate in design improvement initiatives, and cost reduction efforts.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field and 2-5 years of mechanical analysis experience is required; a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field and 2-5 years of mechanical analysis experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in structural simulation using ANSYS (Mechanical APDL/Workbench) is required with capability to integrate ANSYS with MATLAB, and Excel, and Python being preferred; experience with Siemens NX for CAD is preferred.
- Experience in structural (2D, 3D, non-linear), dynamic, fatigue, and thermal analysis, including hand calculations for simple problems is preferred.
- Strong understanding of materials strength, heat transfer, vibration, and fatigue phenomena is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a meticulous approach to advanced analysis and complex problem-solving.
- Experience in field failure investigation, turbo-machinery, and knowledge of API, ASME, or DIN EN codes related to centrifugal compressors, and/ or experimental modal analysis experience is preferred.
