A munkakörről
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Lead Systems Electrical Engineer, you will act as the technical focal for electrical engineering topics supporting Wind Power Onshore projects across North America. Your day will focus on leading electrical and grid-related engineering activities across pre-sale and post-sale phases, ensuring technical alignment, compliance, and operational excellence.
You will provide expert guidance across wind turbine and plant-level electrical systems, lead technical decision-making, support customer and contract discussions, and coordinate closely with Project Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Service Operations and Global Engineering. In this role, you set technical direction, uphold Siemens Energy’s highest standards in health, safety, quality, and compliance, and actively shape best practices and standardization. This role will have up to 10% travel requirements.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Serve as the technical owner and escalation point for electrical systems within wind turbine and plant-level applications. Lead pre-sale electrical engineering activities, including customer technical negotiations, clarification of electrical concepts, and approval of contract exhibits.
- Own post-sale technical resolution, including complex issue analysis, corrective action alignment, and support for repairs and field-related challenges. Provide system-level leadership across electrical components, including generators, power converters (Direct Drive, Full Converter, DFIG), transformers, cabling, electrical cabinets, MV switchgear, protection systems, grounding, lightning protection systems, and grid interconnection equipment.
- Lead work intake, prioritization, and technical coordination, using tracking tools (e.g., Jira) to ensure timely and effective execution. Analyze operational and performance data, conduct root cause analysis, and drive systemic corrective and preventive actions.
- Define, review, and approve engineering documentation, including internal guidelines, technical reports, work instructions, and lessons learned. Act as Siemens Energy’s technical representative in electrical codes, standards, and regulatory forums (e.g., IEEE, CSA, UL, NERC).
- Drive standardization, technical governance, and best practices across Wind Engineering.
- Collaborate with regional and global engineering teams to deliver cost-effective, compliant, and scalable solutions aligned with business objectives.
What You Bring
- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power systems, power electronics/energy systems preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering with focus on power systems / power electronics / grid connected energy systems with demonstrated system-level technical experience preferred. Wind energy engineering experience is highly preferred.
- Deep expertise in electrical systems and grid-connected equipment, including power converters, generators, transformers, MV equipment, protection relays, grounding, LPS, and grid compliance.
- Proven experience leading pre-sale and post-sale engineering activities, including customer-facing technical authority roles.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (IEEE, CSA, UL, NERC, IEC). Experience representing in industry standards committees or regulatory working groups.
- Ability to lead complex technical discussions, make sound engineering decisions, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
