A Snapshot of Your Day

We are looking for a senior, entrepreneurial sales leader to head our Substation EPC Technical Sales function, driving the capture and commercial success of complex, high-voltage AIS and GIS EPC substation projects. This role leads the technical sales strategy and execution for large opportunities—typically valued from several million to hundreds of millions of dollars—ensuring compelling technical solutions, disciplined bid governance, and customer-focused value propositions. To meet these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: Large-Project Technical Sales Leadership, Customer/Stakeholder Management & Market Development, and Bid Governance & Cross-Functional Coordination. The role holder sets priorities across the opportunity portfolio, orchestrates multi-discipline capture teams, and serves as the executive technical interface to customers and partners throughout the acquisition phase. Given the focus on large, technically complex substation EPC opportunities, the ideal candidate is a recognized solution and capture leader with deep substation expertise, proven experience leading multi-month sales cycles, and the ability to coach technical sales professionals. Success requires strong executive communication, negotiation and risk/opportunity judgment, and the ability to align engineering, bid management, commercial, and partner organizations to win and deliver profitable growth.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • 40% Substation Technical Sales Leadership
    • Lead and develop the Substation EPC technical sales team (hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and succession planning) to build a high-performing, inclusive organization.
    • Assign/rebalance customer accounts and opportunity ownership; prioritize pursuits and align coverage to strategic growth objectives.
    • Provide transparent pipeline visibility to the broader organization by maintaining an accurate forecast, identifying backup opportunities, and communicating demand signals early so partner groups can plan resources.
    • Lead technical sales strategy for large/complex substation EPC opportunities, acting as the senior technical interface with customers and internal stakeholders.
    • Define differentiated solutions and win strategies—interpreting specifications, driving design-to-value trade-offs, and ensuring scope, interfaces, schedule assumptions, and risks are clearly documented in the offer.
    • Support proposal development and commercial alignment (including partners/suppliers), and lead/enable negotiations for multi-million-dollar opportunities as required.
  • 40% Customer Relationship & Market Development
    • Manage and cultivate relationships with key customers, understanding their technical challenges and long-term strategic needs.
    • Contribute to portfolio planning by sharing market intelligence and customer activity that informs pipeline health and business planning.
    • Assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products, services, and solutions to protect and grow the business.
    • Understanding Market by balancing customer and business requirements
  • 20% Bid Governance & Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Establish and lead bid governance for priority EPC pursuits, including gate reviews, capture planning, and readiness for internal approvals.
    • Coordinate cross-functional inputs (engineering, project execution, procurement, finance, legal, and partners) to ensure clear scope definition, interface alignment, and deliverable ownership across the proposal schedule.
    • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and internal policies, maintaining a high standard of proposal quality, accuracy, and traceability from requirements through final submission.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field; an MBA is a plus.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in technical sales or business development within the energy, power transmission, or utility industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity, managing and developing a high-performing sales team.
  • In-depth knowledge of high-voltage substation technologies, solutions, and EPC project execution.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
