A Snapshot of Your Day

The Commodity Manager position is an individual contributor role that provides strategic leadership for Combustion commodity within Siemens Energy. A typical day would consist of working with a wide range of functional areas and suppliers on the development and execution of commodity strategies aimed at achieving targeted improvements in cost savings, on-time delivery, quality, and lead times. You will focus on internal customers and partners who can’t be successful without your contribution, timeliness and transparency. You will work in a highly motivated team with a can-do attitude, helping and supporting each other. You will create huge value for our factories and customers, and parallel you will work with the commodity management teams to develop and implement long lasting improvement and development projects. You will become an expert of strategic negotiation, and supply chain performance management.

How You’ll Make an Impact
Engage with local and global stakeholders within the commodities/categories to which they are assigned. Develop comprehensive strategies that support Siemens Energy business objectives.
Lead specific supplier relationships fulfilling the accountabilities of the Supplier Relationship Leader. Responsible for the creation and/or deployment of Cost Models for designated commodities/services/products and the development and delivery of the agreed financial commitments.
Responsible for developing the relevant category and parent and/or vendor level supplier strategies and of their execution. Facilitate category teams and develop collaborative, trusting relationship with stakeholders.
Implement processes and programs to drive continuous improvement in all regional sites and local KPIs. Keep current with global market conditions of commodity category and apply data appropriately to negotiations with suppliers that will lead to long term agreements.
Utilize market data, supplier risk analysis and company's strategic direction to develop and implement long term commodity strategy. Visit suppliers as necessary to analyze facilities and processes, negotiate pricing, quality, and lead-times, which lead to maintaining effective long-term supplier relationships.
Interface with various functional areas such as Engineering, Quality and Finance in order to resolve problems associated with the commodity.
Develop and implement scoring methods (pricing/business alignment matrix) to accurately assess new suppliers’ strategic alignment Siemens Energy business environment.
Send out request for quotations (RfQ), initiate / support technical clarification in RfQ phase, compare quotes based on Total Cost of Ownership
Negotiate quotes & contracts with traditional and Advanced Negotiation Techniques



What You Bring  
Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field, required.
A minimum of 2 years of collective experience working in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Sourcing, Engineering, Technical discipline, or similar function. Advanced knowledge of sourcing processes. Mature understanding of multiple aspects of supply chain value stream. Experience managing Long Term Contracts and negotiating complex terms and conditions.
Strong working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes for assigned commodity. Excellent change management skills and demonstrated ability to lead change.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Experience utilizing financial and data-driven techniques to make decisions. Ability to influence through effective verbal and written communication skills; clearly and succinctly conveys information and ideas to individuals and groups. Good problem solving and decision-making skills. Leader, self-starter.
Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Bilingual in English.
Advanced knowledge of Power Generation products / supply market is preferred
Advanced technical knowledge required (like read and understand technical drawings, specifications) is a plus
Solid SAP system knowledge as a user of “Buy” module is required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, collaboration and influencing techniques, result-orientation and strategic-innovative thinking required
Strong team player, with a can-do attitude and problem-resolution focus
Experience managing Long Term Contracts and negotiating complex terms and conditions.
Good problem solving and decision-making skills, Business focused
