A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Bid Manager you will lead the preparation of Technical and Commercial Proposals for New Equipment. The Bid Manager is the key interface between Sales and Operations, with full Technical responsibility. You will also support the Sales organization directly with Client Technical discussions, define Technical solutions with Engineering, negotiate and condition supplier bids with Supply Chain, and lead cost / leadtime reduction efforts with Operations.

You will develop technical solutions using Siemens Energy application tools and processes. In addition, you will also develop commercial offerings within the pricing guidelines and commercial governance requirements of Siemens Energy. This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a global team that develops technical solutions and written proposals that instill confidence within Clients, distinguish us favorably from our competition, and win new business for Siemens Energy.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Reviewing and interpreting Client requisitions and specifications (RFQs) for new equipment focused on Reciprocating Compressor applications targeting new H2 economy, decarb applications, and traditional oil & Gas applications.
  • Develop Siemens Energy equipment selections using company derived selection tools in conjunction with industry-standard software.
  • Contribute to Bid Strategy discussions for new Recip opportunities, providing input on technical matters and value advantages of Siemens Energy product and service offerings; coordinate and participate in client clarification meetings and discussions.
  • Work with operations & supply chain to consolidate all required details and costing needed for a project, as well as associated schedule; participate and lead the internal kick-off meetings and client kick-off meetings.
  • Ensure that proposals meet Siemens Energy’ standards for quality, accuracy, completeness and timeliness; support the Sales Manager with project or product presentations, including value propositions.
  • Conducts business affairs with the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

 What You Bring

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Petrochemical or Chemical Engineering Degree from an accredited higher education institution or equivalent work experience, with at least 4 years of experience in a relevant role. Those with more experience may be considered for a higher level.
  • Relevant roles include Application Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Commissioning/Field Engineer, with a concentration in reciprocating machinery or related rotating equipment – e.g., Process Reciprocating Compressors, High Speed Reciprocating Compressors, Centrifugal Compressors, Steam Turbines, etc.; Problem solving and critical thinking skills necessary.
  • Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills; Global awareness and ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Possess a keen awareness and appreciation for internal and external Clients; Must be able to travel up to 25% globally to support project presentation, bid clarification, training, and kick-off meetings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programs and select engineering programs Preferred; OEM or EPC experience; Programming / coding within Microsoft environment.
  • Understanding of pricing, costing and equipment selection; Knowledge of commercial or technical bidding or quoting; Bilingual in Spanish / German / French / Portuguese.

This job may be based in Painted Post, New York.   Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.  Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://benefitsatenergy.com/thinking-of-joining.html.  The base salary range for this position in Painted Post, New York is $77,900 - $111,300. 

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
