A Snapshot of Your Day

The responsibility of this position applies to one or more of Siemens Energy Compression Product Lines, which includes Centrifugal Compressors both single shaft and integrally geared. Contribute to decarbonizing the industrial sector by offering products for CO2, H2 and eFuels compression.

How You’ll Make an Impact

The primary responsibility of a Senior Bid Manager is to develop Proposals for Siemens Oil & Gas’ customer/client base encompassing the following:

  • Overall proposal lead for large and/or complex Siemens Energy offerings.
  • Act as a mentor and supervise junior team members.
  • Lead opportunity assessment and discussion with stakeholders and management on a global level.
  • Review the Client’s Request for Quotation (RFQ)
  • Perform equipment selections including drivers and auxiliary systems, using company engineering tool, or other selection tools, as applicable for the product line
  • Fully configure and propose optimized solution(s) with tangible value proposition
  • Review and comment to the Customer’s Technical Specifications
  • Prepare Buyout RFQs.  Ensures integration and participation of the regional SCM coordinator in the proposal process.
  • Engage and negotiate with major sub-Suppliers to create mutually beneficial Client solutions
  • Review and verify Vendor quotations
  • Coordinate the Cost Analysis and Prepare Pricing
  • Understand commercial terms and conditions, which has technical implications
  • Perform a Cash Flow Analysis on each opportunity being quoted
  • Work with the Regional Coordination Group, Operation-based departments, shared services (e.g., Finance, Credit) and the Field Service organization, as required, in order to identify and quantify risks, develop mitigating actions to those risks, prepare the technical/execution risk assessment form
  • Request input from the Sales Manager or Opportunity Leader for the commercial risk assessment
  • Coordinate Proposal Bill of Materials & System Drawings
  • Coordinate the Project Schedule
  • Assist the Sales Managers in developing Technical and Commercial strategies for the successful implementation of the Order Capture Process on a project by project basis
  • Participate in the development of quantified Value Propositions
  • Directs integration of technical activities, products and services, including vendor supplied equipment/services in regional proposals in a timely manner to meet proposal deadlines
  • Reviews the proposal process for compliance with established regional processes, including proposal completeness, accuracy, degree of configuration, cash flow analyses, risk assessment forms (execution, commercial, legal), solution configuration, on-time submittals, etc
  • Ensure that the Technical and Commercial proposals in response to client inquiries meet Siemens’ standards for quality, completeness and timeliness
  • Identify cost- or time-saving opportunities inside the proposal development process, or stemming from Non-Conformance instances and implement process improvement initiatives
  • Contribute or lead Bid Strategy discussions for new turbo opportunities, providing input on technical and value advantages of Siemens Energy product and service offerings. 
  • Complete the Risk and Opportunity Analysis process prior to issuing new equipment proposals, paying particular focus on margin screens, currency risks, payment terms, cash flow, cancellation terms, and execution risks
  • Review pricing for compliance with pre-established screens and price/scope agreement.  Issues price recommendations for approval
  • Coordinate and participate in client clarification meetings and discussions
  • Understand the client’s applications and processes
  • Understand the competition’s products & offerings
  • Prepare and submit in a timely manner the project pre-release and order entry packages to the manufacturing Operation
  • Participate and lead the internal kick-off meetings and client kick-off meetings
  • Support the order capture team in preparing the internal approval documentation
  • Conducts business affairs with the highest standards of ethics and integrity

What You Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering Degree from an accredited higher education institution or equivalent work experience
  • Significant experience (>12 years) in basic and/or application engineering for turbomachinery rotating equipment (i.e. centrifugal compressor – single shaft or integrally geared, gas turbine)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programs and select engineering programs
  • Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Work well with others in a team environment
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English language, bilingual & international experience a plus
  • Domestic and international travel of approximately 15% is required to support training, project presentations, bid clarification and project kick off meetings.
  • Flexible in working hours as the role demands for interactions and meetings with Customers and internal Operations/Factories located around the globe with different time zones.
