A Snapshot of Your Day

The Siemens Energy (SE) North America Customs team ensures compliance with customs regulations and internal requirements for SE businesses! The SE U.S. Customs Quality Manager leads all aspects of the U.S. Customs Quality team, managing internal reviews, broker relations, operational improvements, duty savings, reporting, and customs payments for all Siemens Energy, Inc. business areas!

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and development to a cross-functional and geographically distributed quality team, guiding their day-to-day activities such as duty optimization programs (FTA and duty drawback), risk management, internal reviews and spot checks, broker oversight, record retention, customs reporting, and the implementation and maintenance of IT customs and digitalization solutions.
  • Develop strategies and complete internal review and audit programs, including corrective action management, in alignment with the SE Customs Internal Control Program.
  • Implement initiatives that support the globally defined customs strategy.
  • Ensure timely and compliant payment and reconciliation of customs duties in collaboration with SE U.S. Finance, Accounting, and Controlling functions.
  • Lead and manage projects aimed at advancing process automation and digitalization to improve compliance and optimize operational costs.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of extensive experience in customs/international trade compliance.
  • Bachelor's Degree—preferably in International Business or related field, Tax, or Finance.
  • Experience with ERPs, preferably SAP, and Global Trade management software implementation is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of 19 CFR U.S. Customs regulations, self-filing and customs brokerage activities is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of Canadian import regulations is preferred.
  • Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist is preferred.
  • Adaptability, effective teamwork across cultures, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and interpretative skills.
  • This role requires strong interpersonal attributes including high ethical standards, strong organizational and communication skills, high attention to detail, highly self-motivated and a leader.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
