A Snapshot of Your Day

The Transformer Service Technician Assistant is responsible for the environmentally safe performance of field service projects with direct supervision. Responsible for completing technical field assignments involving the assembly, installation, modification, testing, inspection, service, and/or repair of distribution and power transformers. May recommend corrective measures to improve operations and customer service. May be assigned other work individually or as part of a larger electrical substation/powerplant project.

Requires extensive travel and non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.

Within 12 months of hiring: be able to run an oil processing rig, perform megger, TTR, and dew point tests unassisted, and pull quality oil samples from new or in-service transformers.

EH&S/OSHA training is required or will be provided. Maintaining Class A CDL requirements as described in contract may qualify for a yearly bonus.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Support Crew Leader and crew in covering all aspects of field service operations in addition to maintaining functionality of tools and equipment and update tasks and observations made
  • Assist in the repair of transformer equipment, applying own knowledge and experience to resolve problems, and according to industry regulations and standards
  • Recommend changes or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction and communicate clearly and professionally regarding safety (i.e., tailgate meetings) security, or environmental incidents, safety violations, or near misses
  • Coordinate personal lodging, travel, and other transportation as needed and complete time, expense, and field service job reports using online/administrative tools or software
  • Support Crew Leader in maintaining safe operating condition of vehicles, tools, and equipment including conducting detailed inventories and inspections to determine maintenance and repairs. Perform maintenance daily/weekly/monthly/annually per maintenance schedule or as assigned
  • Follow and carry out Siemens Energy Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies while performing duties in accordance with customer, industry, and corporate laws, regulations, and standards, perform additional duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred, with Technical diploma and/or apprenticeship training preferred
  • Ability to learn how to perform assigned tasks in the operation of transformer oil processing, including vacuum, oil filling, and circulating and draining oil-filled and distribution transformers under direct supervision. Complete documentation of the process under the direct supervision and instruction of Crew Lead and/or senior crew member
  • Ability to learn how to perform rig maintenance on oil processor and generator and provide support during testing with tasks supporting the testing of power and distribution transformers and transformer accessories
  • Proficiency in computer skills, such as email, internet browsing, data entry in online tools, and Microsoft and Windows based software
  • Strong communication and time management abilities, with a curiosity about effectively prioritizing tasks
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

This role may be based in various locations across the United States. Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits, including paid time off and holiday pay. For positions based in the United States, the base salary range is $50,000 to $55,000 annually

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
