A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking an experienced, hardworking, and knowledgeable Quality Manager in Projects to support the Substations business in AIS, GIS, and Substation projects to join our dynamic team.  In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing quality management within substation projects, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with quality management requirements.  You will lead quality management activities, perform internal and supplier audits, and contribute to supplier quality management initiatives.  

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for ongoing and upcoming projects, identify potential quality risks and recommend mitigation strategies.  Plan, execute, and monitor quality management activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring deliverables meet established quality cycles.
  • Define and implement quality management requirements in alignment with project objectives and global initiative, ensuring adherence to Siemens Energy standards and best practices.
  • Conduct supplier audits to assess quality systems and processes, ensuring suppliers meet Siemens Energy standards and contractual obligations.  Collaborate with the procurement team to develop and implement supplier quality management strategies, fostering strong relationships with suppliers to enhance service and product quality. 
  • Plan and conduct internal quality audits to assess compliance with established processes and identify areas for improvement.  Prepare detailed audit reports and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely resolution of non-conformities.  Lead continuous improvement initiatives, employing methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to enhance project outcomes.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with relevant ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and industry regulations.  Maintain up-to-date knowledge of quality management trends, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support in the Non-Conformity Management (NCC) lifecycle, by being a part of detection, containment, and root cause analysis.  Support in maintenance of NCC metrics (count, severity, time-to-containment, time-to-closure, recurrence rate) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the Substations business Project Managers (PMs) to integrate quality into schedules, budgets, and scope baselines and provide executive-ready dashboards and status updates on risk, NCCs, supplier quality, and tollgate outcomes, while championing a culture of prevention, transparency, and accountability.
  • Design and deliver training programs for project teams on quality management principles, tools, and best practices.  Mentor and coach team members to foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability.  Analyze quality data and performance metrics to identify trends, root causes of defects, and opportunities for process optimization.

What You Bring  

  • In-depth knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems. Proven experience in conducting internal and supplier audits, with a strong understanding of audit methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable speaking to groups and explaining sophisticated concepts.
  • Solid substation expertise – covering AIS, transformers, breakers, MV/HV gas-insulated switchgear, and balance-of-plant (BOP) equipment – paired with a strong work ethic, a continuous learning mindset, and preferably Quality certifications are preferred
  • Strong time-management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in quality metrics, dashboards, data-driven decision-making and MS Office, especially PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or minimum of 3-5 years of experience in EHS, project quality, risk management or quality assurance processes
  • Travel 40%
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
