We are seeking a qualified and motivated Proposals Primary Engineer with experience in AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear) or GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) substations, to join our GIS team. Within the Engineering team, the Proposals Primary Engineer is responsible for the Primary scope of work throughout project tendering. Applicants are expected to have the skills to provide engineering and technical expertise in this area, and to work with a high level of independence. The role involves reading customer specifications and analyzing to produce a GIS layout that meets customer specifications and is an efficient design.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Analyze customer technical specifications to design cost-effective GIS products and monitoring systems.
- Utilize Siemens Energy internal tools to define GIS configurations and generate exception lists.
- Prepare cable schedules to support accurate pricing by the Tendering team.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to produce technical documentation for customer approval.
- Serve as the technical expert during customer engagements, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Identify and report engineering challenges that may affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule, recommending solutions proactively.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
- 5 or more years of experience with high-voltage circuit breakers, AIS or GIS substation design 52 kV. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
- Familiarity with IEEE and IEC standards for breakers and substations; experience with AIS/GIS integration preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and ability to quickly learn GIS-related tools and technologies.
- Strong grasp of project management fundamentals with a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Detail-oriented leader with a hands-on approach and experience in voltage and current transformer applications.
Travel, as needed, up to 30% in the US or Europe.
