A Snapshot of Your Day

The weld shop is responsible for the welding, grinding, assembly, quality and inspection of a wide variety of parts for compressors and associated components. As a Welder with Siemens-Energy you will be responsible for completing multiple part setups, welding and grinding the parts to completion for one of our critical part families.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Weld and braze a variety of parts per ASME BPVC Division 1 Sections VIII and IX. Code stamp not required.
  • Perform welding of steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel in positions 1G, 2G, and 3G.
  • Follow established weld procedure specification (WPS) documents, including preheat, amps, volts, and gas coverage.
  • Maintain operating condition of wire feeder, gas mixture and welding gun and/or torches.
  • Contour completed welds using a die grinder.
  • Use burning and air arc equipment to repair defective areas such as blow and sand holes in cast steel.
  • Ideally, but not required, be able to SMAW or GTAW pipe in 6G position, and weld in flow channels using a mirror.
  • Be proficient in oxyacetylene, electric welding, tungsten inert gas, mig welding, brazing, silver soldering, shrinking, or sweating.
  • Working from shop prints without instructions properly layout, mark, hand torch cut, prepare joints, fixture, and tack weld in place a variety of code and non-code work of the highest complexity.
  • Sound judgment is required to select proper tips for welding or cutting, and in selection of welding rods.
  • Maintain ASME Code quality and produce x-ray quality welds.
  • Keep work area clean, orderly, and safe.

What You Bring

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED that can be verified.
  • 1 -3 years welding experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Must be willing to work 2nd shift and be flexible enough to work 1st or 3rd shift on occasion as business requires.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Have a general knowledge and understanding of welding multiple materials.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with basic to intermediate computer skills.
  • Displays a demeanor conducive to progress through positive change, continuous improvement, and active contributor by being a great teammate.
  • Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process is required.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
