A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Power Electronics Engineer (f/m/d) at Siemens Energy, you analyze and optimize the tools and software for power converters of the future to enable energy transition. You abstract the customer's requirements, taking into account the hardware and software limits of the converter. Together with a team of experts, you investigate, implement and test new solution approaches and concepts as part of R&D and customer projects. You design the solutions for these challenges yourself and are able to optimize and further develop them.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Independent development and analysis of power converter control, including software for self-guided multilevel converters
  • Creation of simulation models for self-com mutated multilevel converter systems in power transmission systems, including control design, software structure and test coordination
  • Design, test and implementation of novel control concepts that take into account overall system optimization (consideration of software and hardware aspects)
  • Development and setup of a test framework and a model architecture for "continuous software development" for easy and fast integration of new control concepts and algorithmus
  • Participation in the development of structures and corresponding tools for the efficient and simultaneous operation of several projects with different specific requirements
  • Active participation in internal and external research and development projects as well as support of internal business partners on technical level (engineering, product manager, sales, etc.)

What You Bring
  • University degree in electrical engineering or information technology, preferably with a PhD
  • experience in R&D projects or industry; adept in Matlab/Simulink for real-time simulation and embedded software
  • Deep understanding of control engineering and software engineering principles, including modern control methods and software architecture
  • Proficient in version control systems, particularly git, with experience in CI/CD being advantageous
  • Strong expertise in applying modern control methods, especially in power converter technology, within industrial contexts
  • Fluent in business English, with proficiency in German being a bonus
