Location - ElecLink HVDC Interconnector, Folkestone, Kent

A Snapshot of Your Day
The Operational Technician currently takes part in a 24/7 365 day per year 5-person shift rota. The rota is currently a 4-on, 4-off arrangement. The key responsibility is to operation of the HVDC link commercially and operationally from our control room to achieve efficient availability and to meet contractual requirements.
Operate the HVDC link in accordance with ElecLink’s commercial policy
Operate the HVDC link asset in line with operational procedures and policy.
Compliance to all Siemens Energy policies and procedures
Assist with outage maintenance

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Carrying out alarm management, initial investigations from the HMI and reporting faults to the engineers
  • Complete a daily shift report and distribute to all relevant collaborators.
  • Conduct effective handovers.
  • Manually and automatically operate the commercial function, EDS and EDL system.
  • Perform initial emergency response activities.
  • Continual improvement of the control room documentation and procedures.
  • Work with the engineers to ensure works on site is aligned with health and safety policies, radios for communication and safety documentation is issued.
  • Manage work orders via the asset work management system
  • Report health and safety issues into the designated system
  • Assist, where necessary, outage maintenance tasks
  • All leave is to be covered with effort to ensure the control room is always staffed.
What You Bring
  • Formal qualification to HNC level or relative experience required
  • Engineering accreditation i.e. the IET desirable
  • IOSH or NEBOSH desirable
  • Authorisation under HV safety rules desirable
  • Several years experience working within a maintenance environment on industrial sites
  • IT Literacy
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Integrity when speaking to the TSO and the client
  • Good timekeeping skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Team working abilities
  • Demonstrate evidence of understanding of H&S legislation and Risk Management Processes
  • French language is desirable but not crucial
  • Willingness to attend training
