A Snapshot of Your Day

As an Operations Field Engineer, you will be part of the Grid Enhancing Technologies Operations Team, focusing on technically complex automation and electrical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle. You will perform on‑site commissioning, configure automation and communication systems, execute testing procedures, and generate high‑quality electrical engineering deliverables such as schematics, wiring diagrams, and control configurations.

Your role also includes managing technical documentation and ensuring precise, reliable, and customer‑focused execution of all engineering tasks.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Coordinate, review, and manage engineering tasks to ensure project milestones, quality standards, and budget expectations are achieved.
  • Conduct FATs, SATs, and commissioning for automation and electrical systems; address RFIs and update all required As‑Built documentation.
  • Produce electrical engineering deliverables—including wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials—using E‑Plan or similar tools.
  • Develop installation, commissioning, and field‑wiring documentation with an emphasis on clarity, accuracy, and electrical/automation best practices.
  • Configure and integrate industrial communication protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 60870‑5‑104, DNP3, and OPC UA into utility and industrial environments.
  • Perform on‑site system verification through field visits, customer meetings, technical reviews, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to drive solution quality, system reliability, and customer satisfaction.

What You Bring

  • Required: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics, or similar.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (e.g., Electrical, Automation, Computer Science, Systems Analysis).
  • 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in electrical or automation engineering for industrial or utility projects, with proven knowledge of automation systems—preferably SIEMENS platforms (TIA Portal, SIMATIC S7‑1200, SICAM A8000).
  • Strong proficiency with industrial communication protocols (MODBUS, IEC 61850, OPC UA) and experience configuring Windows‑based industrial systems.
  • Ability to read and produce technical drawings; E‑Plan experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex electrical and automation issues.
  • Spanish language skills preferred; valid passport required for approximately 50% travel, including international assignments.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer‑sponsored visas (internal transfers available for current SE visa holders).
