A Snapshot of Your Day

We are looking for a mid-or senior-level Power Systems Consultant to coordinate power transmission studies and collaborate closely with clients. Your role involves crafting tailored solutions that improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. By guiding clients towards optimal choices, you will contribute to impactful projects with real-world significance.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Leading consulting engagements through completion, aligning team members from different technical backgrounds within a multi-cultural environment.
  • Analyzing power systems, engagements for transmission and industrial network planning, and grid interconnection studies of large generation, storage, and load resources.
  • Engaging with clients to work towards successful grid connection requests, highlighting potential risks and commercial implications.
  • Supporting the analyses of high frequency phenomena like harmonic distortion, transient overvoltage, TRV, missing zero-crossings, or inrush currents.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (master’s or Ph.D. degree preferred)
  • 5 or more years of experience conducting power system analysis in steady and transient states required *Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa
  • Hands-on experience using power system simulation programs, including PSS/E and/or PSCAD required (others programming tools preferred: TARA, PSLF, DigSilent, PowerFactory, ETAP, EMTDC, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, FORTRAN, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Expertise in transmission planning and operating studies (100 kV ~ 765 kV), power system performance analyses including load flow, dynamic stability, voltage stability, protection coordination, short-circuit and transfer limits
  • Deep understanding of grid connection procedures and grid codes (particularly with the modelling and study work involved); Relevant experience working and communicating with independent / transmission system operators (ISO / TSO), utilities, and developers; Advanced skills in HVDC and FACTS applications, power transmission systems, industrial power supply concepts, power electronics and renewable generation
  • Ability to lead customer meetings and manage customer expectations

Ability to travel as needed (estimated at 15%).
