A Snapshot of Your Day

The Grid Analysis and Planning (GAP) group is seeking a HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Engineer Subject Matter Expert with an interest in Power Systems to work in GAP. This person can be based remotely.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Serve as subject matter expert on a variety of generation and transmission types including renewable energy, HVDC and FACTs (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems)
  • Perform and/or review electrical studies including power flow, short circuit, transient and dynamic, related to HVDC and HVAC and others using electrical design software such as PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, etc.
  • Support the design of various power generation and transmission systems
  • Prepare presentations and reports; Write technical papers and present at conferences to demonstrate expertise in the field and engage clients
  • Support the business development efforts, including fostering relationships with existing clients, identifying market areas and pitching clients
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment


What You Bring

  • Electrical Engineering or related degree with interest in power systems. (Master’s or PhD is a plus)
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience
  • Technical experience with HVDC and FACTS, generators, transmission lines, or related
  • Academic or work experience with PSCAD, RTDS, PSSE, PSLF, or related software programs. Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, power system simulation software, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of operations, maintenance and switching requirements for electrical systems.
  • Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges, adapts, influences, and embraces change, and collaborates with global engineering teams and industry professionals.
