A Snapshot of Your Day

The Mechanical Piping Engineer for Construction Projects supports and oversees all mechanical and piping engineering activities throughout industrial construction projects, from design coordination to construction and commissioning. The role involves close interaction with contractors, engineering firms, and internal Siemens Energy teams to ensure systems are installed safely and correctly. Daily activities include reviewing technical documentation, monitoring site execution, supporting inspections and tests, and resolving technical issues. The position operates in a dynamic construction environment with strong emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule compliance.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Review and coordinate mechanical and piping design packages from third-party engineering firms to ensure compliance with Siemens Energy standards and project requirements.
  • Supervise and monitor on-site mechanical and piping construction activities, verifying correct installation of equipment, piping systems, supports, and materials.
  • Identify technical deviations, constructability challenges, and interface risks, proposing practical and compliant solutions in coordination with Project Management.
  • Participate in inspections, pressure and leak tests, flushing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities to ensure systems are ready for safe operation.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, EHS, Quality, and Commissioning teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical and piping works within the overall construction sequence.
  • Support project controls and reporting by tracking progress, managing punch lists and non-conformities, and documenting lessons learned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in industrial or large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial piping, including pumps, valves, HVAC, fire protection, compressed air, cooling, and auxiliary systems.
  • Proven ability to interpret P&IDs, piping layouts, isometrics, datasheets, technical specifications, and construction procedures.
  • Solid understanding of applicable mechanical and piping codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, and NFPA.
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency with strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.

About the Team

The role is part of the Siemens Energy Real Estate BSS project execution organization supporting the STM300 expansion project in Santa Teresa, Guanajuato. The Mechanical Piping Engineer reports to the Project Manager and works closely with Engineering, Construction, EHS, Quality, and Commissioning teams. The team collaborates with global and local Siemens Energy stakeholders and external contractors to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of mechanical and piping works.
