A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Mechanical Integrity / Aeromechanics Engineer at Siemens Energy, every day will be different. Some days you will be focused on primary task(s), others you will have to shift priorities at a moment’s notice to support urgent unplanned work packages. Either way, your day will be filled with varying technical challenges supporting the design and delivery of high-performance large gas turbines while collaborating with a global cross-organizational team. This role will work with peers to continuously support each other, and communicate directly with internal customers and stakeholders!

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Analyze and design hot gas path components (e.g. blades, vanes, ring segments) for optimization of mechanical integrity and manufacturability in accordance with comprehensive design requirements and design philosophies.
  • Apply, improve, and automate advanced mechanical integrity modeling techniques.
  • Validate computational methods and tools for optimization of gas turbine components.
  • Process, evaluate, and document primary design and miscellaneous tasks and results while ensuring the quality of the work products via use of proper design checklist(s).
  • Support manufacturing both initial qualification and subsequent production phases as well as operation and field issue resolution via design studies and root cause analyses.
  • Use test data and field measurements to validate and improve analytical predictions including but not limited to vibration response, flutter, and forced response.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent field with up to 2 or more years of industry experience including 3D modeling, analysis and design. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus!
  • Experience in structural (2D, 3D, non-linear), dynamic, aeromechanic, fatigue, and thermal analysis, including hand calculations for simple problems.
  • Strong understanding of materials strength, vibration, aeromechanic excitation, and fatigue phenomena.
  • Proficient in Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS and/or 3D CFD based aeromechanical / aeroelastic analysis.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
