A Snapshot of Your Day

A day in the life of a welder specializing in stainless steel pipe for gas turbine and compressor packages begins early in the workshop, with a morning briefing to review project goals and priorities, and where the welder reviews project specifications and safety protocols. The morning is spent preparing materials, cutting, and fitting stainless steel pipes, and ensuring all components meet quality standards 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Follow all safety procedures and policies at all times.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, and complex assembly instructions.
  • Perform mechanical welding (tack and certified) as required.
  • Operate cutting rigs, welding equipment, measuring tools, and related machinery.
  • Inventory, clean, inspect, stage components, and safely offload incoming parts using proper lifting and rigging equipment.
  • Use and understand computers to support work tasks and technical requirements.

 

What You Bring (requirements)

  • High School Diploma or GED, or 10+ years of relevant Stainless Steel welding experience.
  • 5+ years of experience welding and fabricating Stainless Steel pipe for rotating equipment packaging and testing.
  • Trained and experienced in welding and cutting tools/processes; WPS and welder qualifications per ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code (GTAW P8 6G — must pass test).
  • Inspect, repair, replace, install, and maintain mechanical components and assemblies for gas turbines, compressors, and associated packages.
  • Set up and operate manual lathes and end mills to perform precision machining, including milling, drilling, tapping, and manufacturing per engineering specifications.
  • Preferred experience assembling Siemens Energy turbomachinery equipment, including SGT 100–400, A35/A65 gas turbine and compressor packages, and RF & Datum turbo compressors.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
