A Snapshot of Your Day
We are looking for a Material Engineer for Coating Solution in our Blade Materials department. The position is a Maternity Cover (12 months duration).
In our pursuit of innovation at Siemens Energy, you will start your day at the forefront of material science for renewable energy. You’ll be deeply involved in testing and qualifying advanced materials for wind turbine blades, ensuring they meet stringent performance requirements. Your role combines material specification and testing, data integration, and collaboration with suppliers and global experts. Every decision you make will help us deliver better, more durable, and more efficient blades that power a greener future.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Materials Engineering & Development
- Lead the development, testing, and qualification of new coating materials for wind turbine blades to enhance durability and performance.
- Define material specifications and collaborate with suppliers to ensure material quality and consistency.
- Provide advanced technical expertise and solutions for material-related challenges in production and in-field service.
- Conduct testing and analysis on material properties, degradation mechanisms, and application processes for various coating systems.
Technical Leadership
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Blade Design, Production, and Quality, to integrate new coating solutions.
- Prepare and present technical reports and project updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage a high degree of collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.
- Act as the technical interface with suppliers, fostering collaboration and driving innovation in material solutions.
- Continuously monitor industry trends and advancements in materials engineering and renewable energy to keep Siemens Gamesa ahead of the curve.
Quality Assurance & Validation
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate the performance and reliability of coating materials according to industry standards.
- Analyze complex test data, document findings, and lead investigations to troubleshoot failures and identify root causes.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of quality control measures for coating application processes in manufacturing.
What You Bring
- Master’s or PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with coatings, composites, or polymers is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in managing technical projects or work packages.
- Strong technical expertise in Materials Science, Coatings Technology, Polymer Chemistry, and Quality Assurance.
- Proficient in Mechanical Testing, Analytical & Problem-Solving, and Technical Documentation.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
