Join us at Siemens Gamesa as a Grid Control Development Engineer and be part of a team that’s transforming the future of renewable energy. Imagine working in our Glasgow city center offices, where you’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to design, implement, and test power converter control systems for cutting-edge wind turbines. Your day will be filled with innovation as you develop new control features, review engineering requirements, and occasionally troubleshoot electrical systems worldwide. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy solutions and make a lasting impact on our planet.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop and thoroughly test new and existing control features, ensuring alignment with software and control development processes.
  • Review and clarify engineering requirements, standards, and documentation.
  • Conduct remote site investigations and troubleshoot electrical systems globally.
  • Collaborate with teams across the UK, Denmark, and worldwide to support control system development.
  • Participate in all stages of control system development, from simulation to global deployment.

What You Bring

  • A passion for renewable energy and a drive to lead change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical topics clearly.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
  • Self-motivation and initiative in solving complex technical challenges.
  • Experience or interest in power electronic converter design, control theory, and real-time embedded control.

These positions are open to both recently qualified graduate engineers with an interest and academic background in some/all the technical areas listed below, or experienced engineers at all levels who have experience in any of the following:

  • Power electronic converter design and control
  • Control theory and application
  • Time and/or frequency domain modelling on platforms such as MATLAB Simulink, RSCAD (software package), Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS)
  • Power electronic drives, vector current control, Pulse Width Modulation
  • 3-phase power systems analysis
  • Grid following control systems, fault-ride through and wind farm power system design and operation
  • Real time embedded control and implementation
  • Software Engineering
