A Snapshot of Your Day

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for leading the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of the Environmental Health and Safety management system in alignment with Siemens Energy EHS governance and Zero Harm principles. The role has full accountability for EHS performance during operational manufacturing activities and supports safe, compliant, and sustainable site operations.

This position ensures compliance with Siemens Energy internal requirements and all applicable U.S. federal, state, and local regulations. The EHS Manager plays a critical leadership role in protecting employees, contractors, and visitors, managing environmental risks, and embedding a strong and visible EHS culture across all operational areas.

 


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead the deployment, implementation, and continuous operation of the site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management system in alignment with Siemens Energy governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee EHS programs covering occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and chemical, waste, air, and water management.
  • Ensure all environmental permits, approvals, and regulatory reporting requirements are obtained, maintained, and complied with during normal operations.
  • Monitor EHS performance through inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and lead incident, near‑miss investigations and corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory authorities and external agencies, managing inspections, audits, and internal Siemens Energy EHS reviews.
  • Plan and lead EHS certification activities (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001), track KPIs, and report performance and improvement initiatives to site and senior leadership.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, HR, and suppliers to embed EHS into daily activities and foster a strong EHS culture through training, communication, and leadership engagement

 

 


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field required; advanced degree or professional EHS certification preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years of Environmental Health & Safety experience, including at least three years leading teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Candidates with more experience may be considered for a higher level.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local requirements.
  • Proven ability to implement, manage, and continuously improve EHS management systems in an operational manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading audits, regulatory inspections, environmental permitting, reporting, and EHS certification processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to influence leaders, promote accountability, and proactively mitigate EHS risks
  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC if not already based in the area 
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Internal employees with current US visa sponsorship may be considered.
