A Snapshot of Your Day

We’re seeking driven combustion engineers to join the LGT Combustion Module (MOD CB) team as Aero Designers, shaping the next generation of gas turbine combustion systems. You’ll leverage CFD and advanced analysis to design and develop cutting‑edge solutions—including hydrogen and special‑fuel combustion—while collaborating with a global, multidisciplinary team across aero, mechanical, and thermo‑acoustics. From concept to validation, you’ll turn bold ideas into high‑performance combustion designs.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own the end‑to‑end development of combustion aero concepts, driving designs from initial ideation through detailed definition and validation.
  • Perform advanced analyses to down‑select and optimize designs, evaluating the impact on air‑fuel mixing, emissions, performance, and dynamic behavior.

What You Bring

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or foreign equivalent)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience; a higher degree may substitute for required experience. Candidates with additional experience may be considered for a higher‑level role.
  • Expertise in combustion system thermo‑acoustics, including the prediction, analysis, and design of damping solutions to prevent operational instabilities.
  • Advanced combustion simulation methods, with the ability to select appropriate computational approaches and tools based on project scope and timelines.
  • Hands‑on experience evaluating engine performance metrics (efficiency, emissions, dynamics) and detailed combustion behavior, including turbulence, mixing quality, temperature fluctuations, and flashback propensity.
  • Advanced simulation, software, and coding skills, including the development of customized post‑processing tools to extract actionable insights from complex data sets.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 20%.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
