A Snapshot of Your Day

The position is to act as rotor specialist for combustion turbines (large gas turbines) at customer´s facilities.  It requires 80%+ travel to power plant sites internationally. The daily activities include hands-on tasks to serve the equipment, following quality and technical procedures, as well as the correct use of mechanical and special tooling. You will be expected to communicate status and lessons-learned to the Site Manager or to back-office and engineering on a consistent basis. You must have a mechanical background and be able to read drawings and schematics necessary for the maintenance of the equipment. Specializing in different frames is possible over the time.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • CT rotor specialist is responsible for all activities related to gas turbine rotors disassemble, inspect and assemble.
  • Performs specialized, technician level work in the field in one or more of the defined specialty tasks: exchange of turbine/ compressor blades.
  • Work independently and with team members to disassemble, inspect, conduct repairs, and assemble gas turbine rotors, incl. de-stacking and compressor/turbine discs processing.
  • Performs day to day activities as part of a team or as a stand-alone function.
  • Effectively identifies technical or schedule problems as they occur and takes appropriate actions to resolve including escalation of more complex issues to a higher level.
  • Provides all required documentation and reports in a timely manner and according to procedures.
  • Performs check list inspections and compile records to document condition of equipment and assure quality.
  • Works closely with site leads, supervisors, and fellow employees and assist them as required.
  • Responsibility to comply and / or enforce the protocols, policies, guidelines, and competencies of the current integral management system (EHS, Quality). – Mandatory for all positions in Mex, auditable


What You Bring

  • Technical or Highschool degree in Mechanical related field.
  • 3+ years hands-on gas turbines experience.
  • Familiarized with the required working steps to disassemble, inspect and assemble gas turbines.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Expertise to use hand or power tools like manual grinding machines
  • Expertise to read Precision Tools such as Micrometers, Indicators, Calipers, Scales
  • Must have the ability to operate overhead crane
  • Flexibility and willingness for domestic and international travel 80%.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Mexico without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees may be eligible for internal transfers.
