A Snapshot of Your Day

The buyer/planner places and maintains purchase orders and requisitions daily to support production needs. Works closely with order management team to align supplier shipments to customer requirements. Manages multi-step production processes from casting through final assembly. May be involved with all or some of the following daily: supply chain management, MRP, inventory management, risk management, import-export shipments, rework material, etc.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Must be diplomatic and able to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, project management, manufacturing, engineering and other departments, and factory personnel.
  • Must be very computer literate and agile. Position will require placement of up to one thousand purchase orders annually in the SAP system. Must be able to extract and analyze cost and schedule data from SAP. Create and maintain “Waterfall” charts in Excel to track product through multiple supply chains. Planning experience is beneficial.
  • Must actively lead suppliers to ensure they are responsible to Siemens Energy for maintaining delivery schedules and high-quality parts.
  • Balance multiple suppliers, maintain contract splits and consistently changing priorities for the assigned scope of parts. Effectively handle large orders/programs with complex scope and/or contractual requirements and significant commercial and/or financial risk.
  • Participate in Engineering change meetings, development meetings, Supplier meetings, etc. to stay abreast of changes affecting assigned scope of parts.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in supply management and planning in a manufacturing or sub-contract environment dealing with complex engineered components.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities needed.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to manage multiple requirements at the same time.
  • Enjoys team collaboration and networking for problem resolution.
  • SAP Experience is highly beneficial.
  • Understanding MRP methodologies and the effect on component delivery.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
