A Snapshot of Your Day

Join our mission to leverage Siemens Energy’s cutting-edge technology in repairing a wide range of compressors within Compression Applied Technical Solutions.

As a Repair Lead Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and validating technical solutions for compressor repairs, guiding projects from initial proposals to fact-finding, reverse engineering, and supporting execution, including reassembly and shipping.

Collaborating with Siemens Energy’s technology experts, factories, service centers, and field personnel worldwide, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our clients achieve their goals in capacity, efficiency, and reliability.

With over 20 years of experience in compressor repairs, you will have the opportunity to innovate using new technologies like AI and next-generation laser scanners, enhancing your growth beyond traditional product design engineering.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Apply and standardize 3D-scan technology for re-modeling and industrializing compressor components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate project progress, develop repair designs, and make technical decisions while communicating effectively with Repair Centers and stakeholders.
  • Support pre-sale activities by evaluating proposed solutions for practicality, logistics, and risk mitigation to enhance sales efforts.
  • Create repair solutions based on global corporate knowledge of Service Centers, including 3D modeling for parts replacements with precise dimensions, tolerances, fits, finishes, and materials through reverse engineering.
  • Develop upgrade alternatives for rotors, bearings, seals, and other compressor parts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements in collaboration with internal specialists.
  • Assist Manufacturing, Purchasing, and suppliers in interpreting customer and manufacturing drawings, addressing shop issues related to deviations, and clearly communicating changes to colleagues.
  • Engage in field and service center work, supporting the hardware implementation into client compressors.

What You Bring:

  • A Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with over 10 years of industrial experience in rotating machinery, including centrifugal and screw compressors.
  • At least 5 years of experience in compressor repair engineering or product design engineering at a professional level.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with team members across the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of working independently or as part of a team on complex designs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and methodology, with proficiency in reverse engineering and parametric 3D modeling techniques, including dimensional inspection using laser scanners for OEM parts and assemblies.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% annually.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and able to prioritize work while effectively communicating information to others.
