A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced System Architect to lead the development of our Energy Management System (EMS) for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).  This role requires a system-level thinker with a deep understanding of energy management principles and a proven ability to translate those principles into robust and scalable control system architectures and requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of BESS components, from the cell/module level to the plant level, and the ability to integrate these components seamlessly into a comprehensive EMS.

Throughout the day, you functionally lead your team, providing guidance and support to ensure project milestones are met. You serve as the main interface and promoter for our EMS solution, engaging with internal stakeholders to communicate progress, address concerns, and gather feedback.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Apply your in-depth knowledge to develop and refine the architecture for the EMS, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility.
  • Connect the dots between different teams and control layers, fostering collaboration and ensuring seamless integration for control strategies, grid interaction, and ancillary services.
  • Ensure seamless integration of the EMS with existing infrastructure and third-party systems.
  • Create detailed requirements, system specifications, diagrams, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and marketing, to ensure successful product launches.
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders and incorporate it into the EMS development roadmap.
  • Based on the market and customers' requirements, define and maintain the overall system architecture for the EMS, encompassing all levels from BMS to plant-level controls and cloud integration.

What You Bring

  • Completed university degree in electrical engineering, power system controls or similar.
  • Deep understanding of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and their components (cells, modules, racks, banks, containers).
  • Proficiency in control systems design and implementation.
  • Experience with communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, CANbus, DNP3).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of energy management and optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of grid codes and regulations related to BESS.
  • Willingness to train, mentoring and share information and knowhow among colleagues as a key to develop innovative concepts
  • Hands-on mentality and experience in EMS, Controls testing
  • Proficient English skills, German is a plus
