A Snapshot of Your Day

As the Production Supervisor for Large Generator Rotor Operations, you’ll lead a skilled team of machinists, rotor winders, rotor assemblers, and balancers to manufacture and service large generator rotors. You’ll begin each day by arriving an hour before shift start to complete a handoff with the outgoing supervisor, review current production status versus the schedule, and set priorities and work assignments. At the start of the shift, you’ll huddle with the team to review a safety topic in support of our Zero Harm culture, align on production status, communicate assignments, and confirm shift goals. Throughout the day, you’ll model servant leadership by removing obstacles, stepping in to support production when needed, and coaching employees. You’ll actively monitor performance and make real-time adjustments to manpower and priorities to keep work on plan—ultimately ensuring your area meets productivity targets and aligns with the production plan.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Ensure safe work practices are followed by all manufacturing personnel. Inform the employees of deficiencies and violations and take corrective action, if necessary, to ensure that procedures and practices are being followed. Assist in maintaining OSHA compliance on the shop floor, ensuring safety is a top priority in all aspects of the business.
  • Study daily operating results, meet daily with employees, and consult with peers on solutions to production problems. Ensure that problems have been corrected. Maintain cooperation between other shifts as well as other departments.
  • Ensure correct distribution of employees and assist with training for all new or transferred employees. Coordinate temporary staff requirements. Authorize and evaluate the overtime requirement for production employees. Assist in mediation of personnel problems and conduct disciplinary action when required.
  • Monitor customer production requirements and coordinate schedule adjustments when required. Monitor and ensure documentation of employee attendance records.
  • Evaluate production reports and metrics and make decisions that impact the results of the area of responsibility to established short- and long-range goals. Responsible for reviewing performance against operating plans and standards. Understand how to extract information contained in SAP (Quality notifications, drawing retrieval, line-up printing, material status, etc.) Ensure Quality Control Instructions (QCIs) are completed and filled out correctly.
  • Motivate employees to hit or exceed hours targets and work with them to generate ideas to work more efficiently. Monitor shop supplies purchases to make sure we are not wasteful and don't overrun targets. Promote and lead continuous improvement by applying 5S methodology as a component of a Lean production system.
