A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Mechanical Integrity / Aeromechanics Engineer at Siemens Energy, every day will be different. Some days you will be focused on your primary task(s), others you will have to shift priorities at a moment’s notice to support urgent unplanned work packages. Either way, your daily work will involve varying technical challenges supporting the design and delivery of high-performance large gas turbines while collaborating with a global cross-organizational team. You and your peers will continuously support each other, and you will communicate directly with internal customers and collaborators.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Analysis and design of hot gas path components (e.g. blades, vanes, ring segments) for optimization of mechanical integrity, aeromechanics, and manufacturability in accordance with comprehensive design requirements and design philosophies
  • Application, improvement, and automation of advanced mechanical integrity / aeromechanics modeling techniques
  • Validation of computational methods and tools aimed at optimization of gas turbine components
  • Processing, evaluation, and documentation of primary design and miscellaneous tasks and results, with quality assurance of work products via use of proper design checklist(s)
  • Support of manufacturing during initial qualification and subsequent production phases, as well as operation and field issue resolution via design studies and root cause analyses
  • Use of test data and field measurements for validation and improvement of analytical predictions, including but not limited to vibration response, flutter, and forced response
What You Bring
  • Advanced university degree in mechanical, aerospace or materials engineering
  • Extensive industry experience spanning over several years, including expertise in 3D modeling, analysis, and design of hot gas path components, as well as hands-on involvement in manufacturing and field issue support
  • Experience in structural (2D, 3D, non-linear), dynamic, aeromechanic, fatigue, and thermal analysis, including hand calculations for simple problems, and strong understanding of materials strength, vibration, aeromechanic excitation, and fatigue phenomena
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS and/or 3D CFD-based aeromechanical / aeroelastic analysis, and knowledge of computational methods and programming experience
  • Working knowledge of PLM Teamcenter and SAP
  • Business fluency in English
