A Snapshot of Your Day

The Indirect Tax Accountant will assist with the monthly sales tax compliance and will aid with acquiring documentation to assist the Senior Sales Tax Accountant with filing of sales tax refund claims. They will also assist with the exemption certificate campaign process. Additionally, this position will help with the response to notices received from state and local jurisdictions. Lastly, the position will also be responsible for reviewing exemption certificates for accuracy and validity prior to them being approved for uploading to Avalara, Cert Capture and Vertex, Certificate Center

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Monthly compliance of Sales & Use tax.
  • Assist with processing refund claims.
  • Validate exemption certificates in Vertex, Certificate Center, and Avalara, CertCapture.
  • Assist with the exemption certificate campaigns.
  • Work with Tax, Accounting and Business colleagues in the management and collection of information for indirect tax audits
  • Support the property tax, annual statement filing and business license filing process.

What You Bring

  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 3+ years of state and local indirect tax compliance experience. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa. 
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and perform multiple tasks with varying deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact independently with peers and management, possess excellent accounting, communication and analytical skills and work under internal and external deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. and experience with Vertex, CertCapture and ERP systems (i.e. SAP) preferred
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
