A Snapshot of Your Day

Step up and join our team as an Electrical Design Engineer, where you’ll take charge of the design and re-design of power transformers. Use your expertise to drive design innovations and optimize end products while following Siemens Energy’s design rules, quality standards, and project timelines. You’ll conduct detailed electrical design calculations for order execution and play a key role in preparing offers at our Transformers Repair Factory in Linz, Upper Austria. This is your chance to create a substantial impact within the Global Transformer Service Engineering Team.


 How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Perform Electrical Calculations for Power transformers and prepare Electrical design documents.
  • Design the parameters & dimensions of active part of transformer to meet the customer specifications like losses, impedances, noise levels, temperature limits and loading capabilities
  • Understand customer specifications, project requirements and prepare design review documents.
  • Collaborate with the Global Transformer Service Engineering Team and Siemens Energy transformer factories to drive product improvements.
  • Develop technical specifications for ordering components such as tap changers, bushings, current transformers, winding conductors, and insulation materials.
  • Estimate quantities for offers and tenders, prepare user documentation, engage in technical discussions with customers during the offer and order execution phases, and support the development of global design rules and R&D initiatives as needed.


What You Bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering with a minimum of five years of experience as a design engineer specializing in Power Transformers and transformer design software tools; candidates with more experience may qualify for senior roles.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in transformer calculations and design, with familiarity in American and international standards for transformers and their components.
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and experience in 2D/3D electromagnetic simulation and electrostatic analysis is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of transformer materials and components, including core grades, winding copper types, insulation parts, and various core constructions and winding types.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in German is advantageous.
  • Capable of independently delivering high-quality results while collaborating optimally with global teams, preferably with SAP experience and a creative mentality.

Due to the Austrian legal regulations, we are obliged to state the minimum salary for this position. Please note that there is a clear willingness for a higher compensation considering your individual expectations, expertise and skills. The minimum salary for this position in the collective agreement for the electrical and electronics industry is in the amount of 51.314,34 € gross/year for a full-time position (38,5 h/week).
