A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer for HVDC, Direct Current Protection.

In our HVDC Protection Team, we test and validate both hardware and software for cutting‑edge HVDC projects in our dedicated Test Center. Our work ensures that every HVDC system we deliver performs reliably and meets the highest quality standards during commissioning around the world.

We operate as a diverse, multinational team, collaborating closely with project management, engineering, and our end customers to develop tailored solutions built on the latest advancements in HVDC technology.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Advancing the Energy Transition by bringing our HVDC projects to successful completion with our customers
  • Participating as part of the Integration Testing project team and carrying out functional tests of Control & Protection hardware and software in one of our test centers
  • Tracing bugs independently and supporting our Software Engineering team in debugging
  • Executing and documenting the Functional Performance Tests (FPT) and Dynamic Performance Tests (DPT) of the HVDC system, including Customer Acceptance Tests in one of our test centers
  • Commissioning the Measuring System, the DC Protection System, and the Transient Fault Recorder for our HVDC projects as part of a highly motivated team at customer sites worldwide
  • Supporting our Commissioning Management in Quality, Risk, and Claim Management while actively participating in our improvement programs


What You Bring 

  • Degree in electrical engineering preferred, energy technology, or a comparable qualification
  • Good knowledge in one or more of the following: project planning and testing with MATLAB/SIMULINK, PLC, or grid protection systems
  • Knowledge or ideally hands‑on experience in Electrical Engineering and the commissioning of electrical power stations or HVDC systems
  • Knowledge of current and voltage measuring devices as well as other primary equipment
  • Team player, communicative, proactive, positive handling of conflicts, decision-making capability
  • Willingness for worldwide travel and extended onsite or offshore assignments

Travel, as needed (~6-9 months in Raleigh, 6-9 months in different location).

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
