Start your day by working at the forefront of material science for renewable energy. You’ll be deeply involved in testing and qualifying advanced materials for wind turbine blades, ensuring they meet stringent performance and sustainability standards. Your role combines hands-on experimentation, data integration, and collaboration with global experts. How You’ll Make an Impact
- Execute and manage structural material testing and characterization, ensuring full compliance with industry standards, particularly for mechanical testing
- Integrate experimental results into material-related databases and leverage numerical simulations to predict material performance under operational conditions
- Develop and implement structured approaches for material qualification and testing processes that enhance efficiency and reliability
- Analyze material properties and performance with a strong focus on mechanics of materials and failure analysis to support blade design improvements
- Define material requirements for blade design, ensuring alignment with process and certification standards
- Act as the technical interface with suppliers, fostering collaboration and driving innovation in material solutions
- Continuously monitor industry trends and advancements in materials engineering and renewable energy to keep Siemens Gamesa ahead of the curve
What You Bring
- Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with solid knowledge of material science and mechanics of materials
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Material Engineer, preferably in wind energy or related industries
- Deep understanding of blade core materials and butterfly blade technology
- Ability to analyze material behavior, conduct failure analysis, and translate findings into design improvements
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across technology, manufacturing, and supply chain
- Availability to travel occasionally to suppliers and testing institutes
- You bring a natural sense of teamwork – creating an open, supportive atmosphere where collaboration thrives and ideas flow freely
- Your curiosity and proactive approach help you look beyond the obvious, bringing fresh perspectives and adaptability that inspire innovation
