Bid Manager supports the Sales effort of new equipment globally, pending project assignment. The following responsibilities of this position apply to one or more of Siemens Energy CP Product Lines, which include the Centrifugal Compressors (Single Shaft)
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Review the Client’s Request for Quotation (RFQ) and perform equipment selections, including drivers and auxiliary systems, using company engineering tools or other applicable selection tools for the product line. Fully configure and propose optimized solutions with a tangible value proposition. Take responsibility for the scope of supply, comment on Customer’s Technical Specifications, and prepare Buyout RFQs.
- Evaluate and communicate with vendors in close agreement with the Project Procurement Manager. Coordinate cost analysis, prepare pricing, and establish payment milestones, ensuring alignment of sub-supplier payment terms. Perform a cash flow analysis. Collaborate with the Regional Coordination Group, operation-based departments, shared services (e.g., Commercial & Finance), and the Field Service organization to identify and quantify risks, develop mitigating actions, and prepare the technical/execution risk assessment form.
- Request guidance from the Sales Manager or Opportunity Leader regarding commercial risk. Coordinate the Proposal Bill of Material, System Drawing, and Project Schedule, and maintain Sales Force (CRM tool) as required for items under Bid Management responsibility. Assist Sales Managers in developing technical and commercial strategies for the successful implementation of the Order Collection Process.
- Participate in developing quantified Value Propositions and integrate technical activities, products, and services, including vendor-supplied equipment/services, into proposals promptly to meet deadlines. Review the proposal process for compliance with established procedures, ensuring completeness, accuracy, degree of configuration, cash flow analyses, risk assessment forms (execution & commercial), solution configuration, and on-time submittals, etc.
- Identify cost- or time-saving opportunities within the proposal development process and implement process improvement initiatives. Complete the Risk and Opportunity Analysis process before issuing new equipment proposals, focusing on margin screens, currency risks, payment terms, cash flow, cancellation terms, and execution risks. Review pricing compliance with pre-established screens and price/scope agreements, and issue price recommendations for approval.
- Coordinate and participate in client clarification meetings. Understand client applications, processes, competition products, and offerings. Prepare and submit project pre-release and order entry packages to manufacturing operations promptly. Participate in and lead internal and client kick-off meetings, supporting the order collection team in preparing internal approval documentation. Assist the Sales Manager with project or product presentations, conducting business affairs with the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
What You Bring
- Minimum 12 - 15 years of relevant work experience Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience from an accredited higher education institution.
- Understanding compressor applications would be an added advantage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite programs and select engineering programs.
- Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills.
- Work well with others in a team environment and Proficiency in spoken and written English language, bilingual & international experience a plus.
- Domestic and International travel is required to support training, project presentations, bid clarification and project kick off meetings and Market awareness.
