A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Lead Bid Manager, you lead the proposal for Siemens Energy Oil & Gas customer/client base for gas turbine driven compression train. You are also a member of the regional expert team for Bid Management and a key person for driving continuous improvements within the function.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Act as an expert and provide guidance to the rest of the global team on a specific market stream and region perspective.
  • Together with Sales, responsible for developing opportunities in an early phase, sizing and selecting compressors and gas turbine to position our products and concepts.
  • Give technical presentations to our customers.
  • Prepare techno-commercial budget bids as independently as possible.
  • Lead, supervise and guide the overall bid with support from Bid Management Team within our business for gas turbine driver skid and from our compression colleagues for the driven skid in detailed budget and firm bidding stage.
  • Actively participate in technical & commercial clarifications with our Customers.
  • Monitor & guide handovers of won orders to project execution
  • Propose optimized solution(s) with tangible value proposition
  • Coordinate the cost analysis and cost-out for competitive bid submission
  • Understand commercial terms and conditions, which has technical implications
  • Together with Sales, actively engage and participate in the development of quantified Value Propositions and price walk for winning price submission.
  • Ensure that the Technical and Commercial proposals in response to client inquiries meet Siemens’ standards for quality, completeness and timeliness
  • Identify cost or time saving opportunities inside the proposal development process, or stemming from Non-Conformance instances and implement process improvement initiatives
  • Understand the client’s applications and processes
  • Understand the competition’s products & offerings
  • Conducts business affairs with the highest standards of ethics and integrity

What You Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering Degree from an accredited higher education institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Significant experience (>12 years) in application engineering, sales, detail engineering and/or project management for turbomachinery rotating equipment (i.e. single shaft centrifugal compressor or gas turbine) in oil and gas industry.
  • Deep understanding of compressors & gas turbine driven compressor applications would be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of programs and select engineering programs.
  • Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Work well with others in a regional and global team environment
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English language, bilingual & international experience a plus
  • Domestic and international travel of approximately 20% is required to support bid projects presentations, bid clarification and project kick off meetings.
  • Flexible in working hours as the role demands for interactions and meetings with Customers and internal Operations/Factories located around the globe with different time zones.
  • Strong drive and collaborative approach
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
