A Snapshot of Your Day
We are looking for a Hands-On Electrical Engineer for working on Electrical Generators worldwide.
On a customer project in a power plant somewhere in the world:
After the morning briefing with our customer, you will go to the site to set up the high voltage testing equipment and connect it with one of the large turbo generators of our customer. You will ensure that all quality and safety standards are fulfilled before energizing the system with up to 60.000 Volt AC/DC. During the tests you will monitor the data and optimize the test parameters to gain a profound understanding of the condition of the generator.
Finally, you will analyze the results and give an assessment about the condition of the generator and recommended maintenance activities. In the debriefing you will discuss these results with the engineering department as well as with our customer.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform commissioning of electrical generators, including functional tests and verification of logic interlocks, from single components to the full system according to specifications and engineering documents.
- Conduct fact-finding activities, electrical tests, and robotic inspections on generator components during service outages.
- Troubleshoot and analyze customer problems, liaising with Engineering to implement remedial measures.
- Prepare and execute various electrical tests on generator components, including dielectric diagnostics, high voltage tests, and insulation resistance measurements.
- Test the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) by checking operation, verifying parameters, and ensuring proper signal exchange with protection systems and the plant DCS.
- Perform tests on generator control, protection, and monitoring devices, including verification of protection functions and investigation of faults in the protection system.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply, and relevant work experience is a plus.
- Willingness to expand knowledge of generator design and technologies, including electrical insulation technologies, to enhance product understanding for analysis and diagnosis.
- Detailed understanding of technical equipment and ability to work with technical documentation, along with knowledge of general power plant technology.
- Experience in power plant operations and maintenance; familiarity with Siemens Energy generator operations and maintenance is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive attitude towards technology and innovation, coupled with the ability to work independently under pressure and solve problems in a complex environment.
- Excellent communication skills in technical English are mandatory, with knowledge of German being helpful; willingness to travel internationally (up to 100%) on short notice and work flexible hours while maintaining a high focus on health, safety, and quality.
