You will prioritize projects with the sales team, perform site assessments, and verify load suitability for wind turbine generator (WTG) sites. Your expertise in wind flow modeling and optimization will be crucial as you develop windfarm layouts and control strategies. You’ll correlate on-site measurements with long-term datasets, assess wind speeds, and optimize turbine layouts considering environmental constraints. Your role is pivotal in providing technical guidance during all project phases and drafting comprehensive customer reports.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Manage a team to assess, model, and optimize projects.
- Communicate strategically across teams and processes.
- Prioritize projects in collaboration with the sales team.
- Perform site assessments and load verifications for WTG suitability.
- Develop and optimize windfarm layouts and control strategies.
- Conduct wind flow modeling using software like WindPro and WAsP.
- Correlate on-site measurements with long-term datasets.
- Assess site-specific wind speeds, turbulence, and energy yield potential.
- Develop turbine layouts considering environmental constraints.
- Perform noise and shadow flicker analysis.
- Provide technical feedback during development, construction, and operational phases.
- Draft customer reports for suitability assessments.
- Mentor and develop team members with strong communication and leadership skills.
- Apply problem-solving, project management, and organizational abilities.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Atmospheric Science, or related fields.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in the wind power domain.
- Essential experience in wind resource and suitability assessment.
- Proficiency in wind data analysis and long-term correction reanalysis.
- Expertise in layout design and optimization.
- Experience in noise and shadow modeling for wind farms.
- Familiarity with wind modeling and GIS tools.
- Preferred experience in power curve verification and advanced CFD simulations.
- Strong understanding of wind flow modeling and terrain complexity.
- Essential familiarity with WindPRO and beneficial knowledge of Windographer.
- Competence with GIS software like Global Mapper.
- Familiarity with flow modeling packages like WAsP and WindSim.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Basic knowledge in engineering mechanics and loads.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
