A Snapshot of Your Day

You will perform the duties required to progress Wind Farm Projects through the complete cycle of regulatory processes as related to Grid Connection required anywhere in APAC region. You are expected to work in conjunction with other SE Wind Power technical support team members and the technical departments of the parent company, to ensure a successful connection to the grid of the different windfarm projects.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Lead and provide technical support to all projects in APAC through the Grid connection process like Application for Connection, Application for Registration, Commissionig and R2 Model validation. Coordinate the power system studies to be done, including load flows, dynamic studies,
  • Provide technical inputs in regard to the topic of Grid Connection for all APAC Projects during the Tender,  Construction/Commissioning and Operational phases. This would largely entail responding to regulatory obligations, including developing and demonstrating compliance to Access Standards, modelling requirements, and validation requirements.grid stability, power quality, etc, and evaluate the results of this studies, in conjunction with SE Wind Power Modelling & simulations team
  • Negotiate with AEMO/TNSPs/DNSPs GPS and model requirements In Australia.
  • Negotiate with TSOs in other regions of APAC, with support from the local teams.
  • Responsible contact and contributor in technical discussions related with the connection to the grid with Customers and System Operators/Network Service Providers. Participation as the technical expert in the technical discussions with the customer during the negotiation of new projects, present technical solutions to key customers and respond in a timely manner to technical concerns and answer questions in a knowledgeable, articulate manner
  • Technical lead for all ongoing interfacing with SGRE HQ to ensure consistency with SGRE processes, to communicate new requirements, monitor the progess of requests.
What You Bring
A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. The candidate is expected to:
●Coordinate the power system studies to be done, including load flows, dynamic studies, grid stability, power quality, etc, and evaluate the results of this studies, in conjunction with SGRE Modelling & simulations team.
●Evaluation, calculation and revision of performance of technologies that ease grid integration (e.g. storage ).
●Support for renewable plant (including but not limited to reactive plants) logic development and specification.
●Participation as the technical expert in the technical discussions with the customer during the negotiation of new projects.
●Wind farm model development and tuning (PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory).
●Grid connection package preparation including all required project reports (R0, R1 and R2).
●Negotiation of Generator Performance Standards with AEMO/TSO.
●Support for AEMO/NSP during connection package due-diligence.
●Commissioning and hold point test planning/reporting.
●Due diligence on eBoP/harmonic filter designs.

About the Team

SE Wind Power provides power systems engineering services to the utility scale renewable generation, energy storage systems and associated HV infrastructure. The team specialises in technical studies, modelling services and consultancy services for each stage of the grid connection process – feasibility assessment, connection application, project registration and commissioning.
SGRE has people on board who have in depth knowledge and experience in successful delivery of Connection application packages, R1 model development and assessment, power system studies, GPS development and re negotiation if required as part of R1, R2 model validation testing and analysis for R2 endorsement, GPS testing and assessment, and GPS Compliance Monitoring Program development and alignment. The team is based in Melbourne Australia.

SGRE Grid Connection team specialize in:
Connection Application and Registration Studies
Dynamic and Transient modelling in PSSE, PSCAD and Powerfactory for solar, wind, battery storage and dynamic reactive plants (i.e. STATCOM, SynCon)
Preparing GPS Compliance test plans
Commissioning and GPS Hold testing
R2 tests, followed by model validation.
