The Production Supervisor is responsible for manufacturing products using safe and efficient manufacturing processes through the management of the production team members.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Ensures safe work practices are followed by all manufacturing personnel. Inform the employees of deficiencies and violations and take corrective action, if necessary, to ensure that procedures and practices are being followed. Assists in maintaining OSHA compliance on the plant floor, ensuring safety is a top priority in all aspects of the business.
- Reviews, tracks, and analyzes daily operating results, meets daily with subordinates, and consults with Engineers on solutions to production problems. Ensure that problems have been corrected. Maintains cooperation between departments.
- Ensures correct distribution of staff and assistance with training for all new or transferred employees. Coordinates temporary staff requirements.
- Authorizes and evaluates the overtime requirement for production employees. Assists in mediation of employee issues and conducts disciplinary action when required. Coaches and develops production team to ensure maximized training and flexibility.
- Monitors customer production requirements and coordinates schedule adjustments when required. Monitors and ensures documentation of employee attendance records.
- Evaluates production reports and metrics and makes decisions that impact the results of the area of responsibility to established short- and long-range goals. Evaluates performance against operating plans and standards.
What You Bring
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA or equivalent experience), Associate’s Degree or relevant work experience
- 3+ years of direct supervisory experience and 5+ plus years of manufacturing experience involving assembly work and machining operations.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and or 5S. Working knowledge of MRP and Quality Control systems a plus. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Must have experience in promoting and participating in continuous improvement/lean activities that meet operational excellence expectations.
- Have production management skills and experience, providing effective leadership to a range of employees with regard to business priorities.
- Accustomed to making impromptu decisions to allocate production resources that impact customer delivery. Excellent, proven experience with computers and Microsoft Office software. Requires strong problem solving and analytical skills. Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Requires a high level of proficiency with business writing skills. Requires strict confidentiality in dealing with sensitive, private information, and possesses high professional ethics, dependability, good judgement, and ability to take decisive action. Ability to work independently with some supervision available to address non-routine questions.
- Ability to participate in a team environment to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Conflict resolution experience with an hourly workforce is preferred.
- Ability to work with established deadlines and achieve goals/outcomes. Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours to meet business needs and travel to company events.
